Job Description

  • We are looking for a talented and accomplished site engineer to join our growing business. As a site engineer, you will manage projects, supervise staff, and provide technical advice as a subject matter expert.
  • Our ideal candidate is an industrious go-getter. Site engineers are integral to construction projects.
  • Working alongside civil engineers, structural engineers, architects and surveyors, they use their technical skills and managerial prowess to make sure that building sites are fit for purpose.
  • Using their expert knowledge of construction materials and their commercial nous to negotiate deals with suppliers, this lot play a seriously important role in making sure that building projects are as cost-effective as possible.
  • The project management side of a site engineer’s job involves liaising with third party stakeholders to keep them updated on the progress of the construction project, managing the site facilities, and supervising construction workers on a daily basis.
  • The role of a site engineer combines technical responsibilities with project management.
  • Site engineers are responsible for planning, marking out and levelling construction sites before any building work takes place.
  • They also build roads, drainage systems and other vital facilities to make sure construction projects go off without a hitch.
  • A site engineer’s duties, however, aren’t finished once the construction site has been set up. Site engineer is also responsible for the procurement and management of construction materials which are used on-site.
  • They are usually in charge of health and safety on the construction site.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect facilities and analyze operational data
  • Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Compile estimates for technical and material requirements for project development • Determine and present estimates of operational costs
  • Research the environmental impact of projects
  • Incorporate eco-friendly and sustainable features into design plans
  • Create graphical representations of proposed solutions
  • Prepare proposal documents and presentations
  • Evaluate operations and processes
  • Suggest process and technical design changes to improve performance and efficiency
  • Implement improvements to designs and processes
  • Test material and structural integrity
  • Compile and present reports explaining project details to non-technical stakeholders
  • Monitor project progress, compliance with design specifications and safety standards
  • Direct engineering activities; assign tasks, provide training and support
  • Create work schedules and adjust as needed to meet project deadlines
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all site engineering activities
  • Collaborate with management to align activities with desired business outcomes

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction, Building, or related field
  • State-issued certification or engineering license
  • Considerable experience in a similar position
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering, technology, building, construction, and design
  • Proficient in the use of computer aided design (CAD) software
  • Familiar with scientific analysis software as well as graphics and map creation software
  • Proven track record for managing personnel and material resources
  • Exemplary critical thinking, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and project management skills
  • Active listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use the scientific process to solve problems
  • Dedication to learning new concepts and strategies

Education and Training Requirements:

  • To qualify as a field engineer, a candidate must obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Some field engineers may hold a degree in construction management. A field engineer needs to be state-licensed in order to work.

Skills:

  • Candidate must be creative, a fast thinker and good at problem solving. He/she must have extensive knowledge on troubleshooting and familiarity with a wide range of products.
  • Other important skills in this position include exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, strong math skills, basic computer skills, and manual dexterity.
  • Candidate must also be able to think outside the box, work under pressure and handle problems independently or as part of a team.
