SaharaReporters reported on Friday that armed robbers attacked some banks in Otukpo town in Benue State, killing some people including security agents and carting away millions of naira.

As a precautionary measure against further attacks, all money deposit banks in Benue State have been directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria to operate between 8 am and 2 pm daily.

However, the new operational directives followed an emergency meeting of representatives of the apex bank and the management of the affected banks in Makurdi, Benue State.

“All banks and her branches across the state with immediate effect [sic] commence her business operations from 8 am-2 pm, Monday to Friday till January 30, 2024, when a review of the security situation will be carried out at the Bankers Committee for amendment accordingly,” a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, reads.
